Back in 2011 I laid a sandstone sett drive which I am very pleased with.

At the time I grouted using a slurry grout from Stientec but due to the much higher cost of Setts now I need to make some savings or the new drive extension wont happen.

If I use a 3:1 mortar slurry, should I fill the joints 100% or just go to 85% then fill the rest using a product like Stientec.

If I did fill to 100% would the joints need to be finished off by hand pointing?

Save up and do it right. Using a different product to whats been used will look awful, and wont work.
that slurry stuff is tried and tested, it sets solid, and is all one colour.
Sand and cement wont last long on a drive im afraid
