So firstly thanks for the excellent resource finished my drive last year and i'm really chuffed with the results.

Unfortunately the wife after being adamant she didn't want a step from the drive to the porch would now rather like to have one.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how best to retrofit a step.

I was thinking maybe lay some blocks on a bed of mortar on top of the block paving?

it takes a fair bit of skill to do this,to avoid staining the adjoining blocks
I like to set it out then use 75 mm gaffer tape to try and prevent staining
its not ideal but if you do use SBR in the mortar and lay the inset blocks on a strong mortar mix with SBR too
lay to your final level and then sand a day later

the proper way is to dig it out and make a small footing
