My block paving drive needs a bit of refurbishment. Its look dull and tired.
I am planning on using glyphosate weedkiller to kill all the weeds.
Then doing a full jet wash.
Then sealing and re-sanding.
Im after a wet look sealant, although on a tight budget.
Have seen resiblock trade but doesn't look that glossy. Is there a cheaper product that will give the gloss look. Not really bothered about oil stain protection as i don't have any oil/stains on the drive.
Also which sand is good to use. Have seen in wick they do a weed free sand or should i just use normal kiln dry sand?

So called weed-free sand is only weed-free for 12 months or so, by which time the weedkiller content is long gone and you are left with relatively expensive, weed-friendly sand.
Kingfisher K-Seal is a very effective high gloss sealant that works well on CBPs, and, once applied over newly sanded KDS joints, it will keep them weed free for a couple of years or more.

So best to just use normal kiln dried sand?
K-seal looks good but almost same price as Resiblock trade. Worth spending the extra for Resiblock?

When it comes to concrete block paving, I've yet to find owt better than Resiblock. It's what I have on my drive!

I'd apply the weedkiller say a week before you intend to clean the paving, giving it time to work. After a week yes pressure wash the paving allow to dry thoroughly say 24-48 hours with no rain, then use kiln dried sand to re re-sand then if you want a gloss look sealer then Resiblock Superior, depending on the size of the area, we would sand & seal in the same day. BUT remember if there is a chance of a shower while you are sealing or 6-8 hours after you think you'll finish, then wait until the weather forecast is for dry weather. Sealers & rain = fail.

Hi R4
If you would like to PM me with your address, I would be happy to get some samples off to you with my compliments, so you can try on some spare paving to see if it provides the aesthetic you require before spending any money?
Thanks
Craig

Thanks for your reply. When i sand the drive should i remove all the excess sand particles.
Im worried if i put resiblock after sanding the sealant would leave small sand particles on the top of the surface as the sealant appears to be quite sticky.

Valid point - but whatever detritus is left on the surface (sand/dust/leaves etc) it will become embedded with whatever sealer/stabiliser you use.
If simple sweeping (use a soft rather than a hard broom) does not remove it, one suggestion is to use a lawn leaf blower, held horizontally to the paving; this should remove all surplus sand from the surface (and indeed chamfers) but without removing it from the joints themselves. You may want to give that a try?
