I'm looking for a bit of advice. I've been asked to quote a concrete drive overlay. The house next door has been done recently in 6mm & tbh is a decent job. The woman I spoke to says that she doesn't like the look as it looks to coarse & she'd like something finer. Someone has suggested she have it done in 4mm so that's what she's asked me to quote for. Would 4mm be good enough for a residential driveway or should it be minimum 6mm before I get involved. Thanks John

If your talking tar-mac I would only use 10mm SMA over concrete they will soon call you up when there is a problem.

There are a number of time coverings on the market, very expensive epoxy resins etc: you need to research and any covering must be done to spec.

6mm SMA would be absolutely fine for a concrete overlay but be aware of expansion joints and any cracks reflecting back up through in the future.
