just a bit more info - we have light coloured stone pavers which had lichen/black spots on it, and after reading the info on cleaning pavers - it seems that the chemical(acid) we used has caused it go a horrible bright orange. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the dreaded acid reaction on Indian sandstone - does it look similar to this???

What product did you use? sounds like it had hydrochloric acid in it!!!! which is a NO for Natural Stone, can you post a photo on here so I can see the damage?
