Hi all, I have broken up a old concrete drive and removed the concrete. What depth should I excavate to underneath? The ground is hard and has rubble underneath and road plannings. Seems very solid.

Best wishes

Are the planings coated in bitumen, or clean, are they a uniform size say 40ml? Could be you might get away with leaving them in if they are clean.

Clean road plannings all about the same size, not very deep though but firm. Could u run the wacker plate over it to help?

If it's been down a while with a concrete slab on top it should bé as compact as it will ever bé. But if you have a wacker it won't hurt to give it a thumping. Clean planings is good to go then.
As long as you have 100 to 150 sub base down, DTP1 or as good as.
