Hi,

I've been following your site for ages and love the work you guys are putting into this! I am a DIY enthusiast and now want to do my own driveway.

I have 108 Sqm of drive/garden area I want to Pave. I have not decided what paving I want, but I am edging towards the tegula paving, as opposed to the standard block pacing stone.

I am about to dig out the ground on the weekend, but needed some idea about what quantities of items I need.

Can you please advise how much MOT Type 1 I should be using in total), how much gravel/Sand etc. I would require to complete the job.

Also, I would appreciate you giving me a breakdown of how much of each item I require per square metre as well as for the total job.

about 32/36 tons soil to be carted off
16/17 ton type 1
7/8 tons sharp sand

what are you going to use to dig out with, I would suggest a 3t machine due to the material to be moved, grab lorry for muck away, you will be lucky to dig it out on a weekend as grabs dont work after 12 lunch time and you need 2 loads MSH

We've already carted off one grab wagon and another scheduled in for 4pm Saturday!

I got a good friend who owns his own digger, so lucky enough to use that....

Do I not need any other materials?

What is the per sq metre ratio for all block paving items?

Right Guys - I am pretty much there after a few weeks holidaying back to my DIY paving job.

I have laid my 2 courses of MOT Type 1, wacked it down on both occasions.

I have a low point in my front driveway of about 4-5cm where the car comes onto the driveway. and the rest of the front is slightly raised (I'm not sure if I have explained that properly) but it's similar to this: http://www.winchesterlandscapes.co.uk/permeable-block-paved-drive.html (low point then goes higher)

How do I make the rest of the drive at it's low point relevant so it does not look obvious that there is a slight ditch?
