Hello,
I live in an old farmhouse which I recently finished renovating, so now onto the garden, paths and drive.
My first job is relay a path/patio (25sm) using a mixture of reclaimed and new bricks/pavers.
I have 7sm of dark blue paving which I took up from outside the house and 14sm of the same that I took up from inside one of the barns. I have no idea how long they had been down and I think they are Staffordshire blue imperial bricks.
I plan to relay the patio using these bricks with 4sm of new Staffordshire Blue bricks 215 x 102.5 x 65mm mixed in.
Could this turn out ok? I am worried that the bricks from inside will not match the ones from outside and that neither will match the new bricks?
I am hoping once pressure washed and weather they will all match in nicely. I will take a hammer to the edges of the new bricks to take the sharp edges off and give them a slightly tumbled effect.
Also how should these be laid, I'm worried that the joints between the bricks will be too large for filling with sand and a level sand bed will be useless as the bricks differ slightly in size and thickness.
Any advice would be appreciated.
