My house was built in 1906 and has a 3 brick deep brick skirt which has always been hidden by soil. The top brick is 80mm below the damp course. My question is, where should my block paving be? If I sit it on top of the top brick then I have only 30mm gap beneath it and my damp proof. Do I lay them on the second brick down and expose the first layer of brick skirt? Or do I lay it level with the damp course in the same place as where the soil has always been?

on old houses generally 150mm below finished floor level will work
without actually seeing it its impossible to say 100%

Thanks. My finished flooring is around 300mm above the damp course (out of picture, its about 4 red bricks above damp course).
To better describe what I mean I've included the picture below. As you can see, I have the decorate red brick I don't want to cover. Then the damp course, then 3 levels of foundation brick, with the first brick being flush with the red brick.
Do I lay my block paving level with damp course? If I lay it lower I'm exposing the brick foundations which are quite ugly and have always been covered with soil.

You should be safe 2 courses below your air brick.

Would the first line of bricks below the red brick be left visible then?

Yes. I always tend to go around 4-6" below inside finished floor level.
