I'm looking for a supply of the kind of blocks featured on page 177 of Tony's book (Driveways, Paths and Patios - (yes Tony I bought it !)) I'm getting some steps built and want some smaller blocks as treads rather than traditional slabs. Local suppliers don't seem to have them. Don't need loads - just enough for four steps back and four front of house to match. Built against brick on end risers btw similar to the pictures in the book.

There're 5 photies on that page - to which one are you referring?

Thanks for replying Tony - I was going to send you a PM if I got no replies.
Top right and bottom right would be candidates; also the middle one, although the wrong colour, do look a better size.
I live in Chesham, Bucks so likely a long distance delivery will be required.
Steps (8 of them) are each no bigger than the top step of the RH pictures on p177.

Right: the smaller-than-average tumbled blocks in those images are Tobermore's version of Tegula Setts, which are , IIRC, 70-120mm x 90mm.

Inexplicably, Tobermore products seem to be more readily available in Lower Britain than used to be the case. Just how shipping lumps of hardened concrete from Northernmost Ireland all the way to the Home Counties can be economically viable, or even desirable, is beyond me - when you think that Brett struggle to send paving made in Loughborough much further north than Nottingham, FFS, it makes no sense!

Thanks Tony, Tobermore do have suppliers down here (SE England) as you suggest.

Although you'll know this (others may not) here's the link to the Tegula blocks :

But I have a question; is there any reason why this and not the smoother 'Shannon' would be better for steps ? Easy to navigate there on the Tobermore site but here's the direct link anyway.

No reason at all - it comes down to personal taste. Shannon is the untumbled Tobermore Tegula just as Savannah is the untumbled Marshalls' Tegula
