When I got home last night I was shocked to see that one of the blocks on my drive has dropped around 2" :-(

It is over a soakaway and it seems there has been some settlement....

The contractor is due out tomorrow and I'd like to be in the know when I speak to him...my builder has suggested that a concrete biscuit should have been installed over the soakaway...

Tbh I am really fed up with the job overall....there are definite areas where the blocks have sunk slightly, and the drainage is not right hence some puddles....but the guy was recommended and I saw some of his other work....just need to make the best of what I have....

Any advice would be brilliant!

Soakaway in a driveway should be capped with concrete to stop sinking ,there should be no puddles if sand is compacted and screeded in the right way,
has he installed drainage channels MSH :)

Does an aquacell wrapped in terram and filled with shingle still need concrete over it? Or is it the old rubble filled pits that do?

in a driveway i would always concrete over, but on the other hand i would not put one in a drive way if there was another place MSH :)

ok. you have me worried now as i have just done a single cell one under the current project and there was no where else to put it.
hoping that since i used terram under the crushed, it should be ok :(
lesson learned for next time

I generally don't top soakaways with concrete, surround with self-compacting pipe bedding and 200mm or so of 803 stone over the top properly whacked down, never had a problem with settlement to date

Convenient down poor....

There is a ridge which is stopping the flow of water down the driveway.....could this be reduced with the wacker?

Need some Paving Expertise before the guy arrives at 11.....

Thanks fellas

That's going to be a pick it up, reconstruct soakaway and relay job.

By reconstruct....would a concrete biscuit over top and then relay be the steps?
