Hello all, Looking for some tips and advise on a drive im going to undertake by myself for the first time.

Im up in Elgin, Moray and have been let down by my mate who was going to do the job, Ive lifted the turf ready for him but now am going to have to go for it myself, Looking forward to it

My drive is pretty uneven at the minute and is around 90mtr/sq.

Has anyone got any links for a total newbie to pick up some hints?

Do I need a digger or will the spade do? Csan someone let me know how much hardcore and sand I will need for my standard block paving?

Ill add some pics of my drive the way it is now, there is only enough room for one car which is utterly useless.

Cheers for that mate, Think its going to be a bit tougher to do a proper job than I thought.

Going to get the drive designed for me so minimize the possibilities of a fxck up haha

Hi howser, I did my drive about three years ago totally with information from here and it's been fine ever since, I have even been asked to do drives for others so read what's on this site and ask questions, they are a great bunch and very helpful.
My drive is about 110 feet long with a 30 foot square area in front of my garage done with 60 thick blocks from marshals eBay site, I bought a batch that was big enough for the job. I cleared the site by hand and used a wackier to flatten it, loads of passes to get it right though, then my wive and I laid the blocks and wacked again. The hardest part was lining up and levelling the edges first, getting that right made the rest easier. Though!.
At the time I was 62 and working, mainly behind a computer and my wife was 60 and partly disabled, but once we got stuck in it got to be fairly enjoyable so don't be put off by the thought of tackling the job.
