Hello all,
I've started spreading the sand out over the sub base but I've no idea how deep to spread it.

Sub base gives 90mm for compacted laying course and 50mm block on top. I've just spread to the edge course level so it's a full 90mm before compacting and screeding. Is this ok or am I making work for myself.

I'm aiming for a 43mm screed depth using tobermore tegula.

Thanks
Jim

Well I had thought I'd read that, but yes it does say in there 30-50mm above the required level.

Should've gone to specsavers!

The less you put above your screed rails the better as then you have much lighter work when trying to screed it.

However putting too little on and having a low spot makes a lot more work as you need to top it up rake it flat and compact again.

As with all things knowing just the right amount only comes with experience.
