So at the moment we have a tarmac driveway that is cracking and is in a general state of disrepair.

It slopes down about 8m from the road to the house (reasonably steep but nothing crazy) and then sweeps off to the side, sloping a bit more for about 18m.

There is drainage in front of the house so we have no issues with that.

Am a bit stuck on what to do, I'd love to remove the tarmac and put paving stones down but from what I understand that would be £50-100/m2 ( and we have approx. 120m2!)?

So I was wondering if I could lay angular granite stones over the tarmac, or will that need to be removed (on this site I read not to lay 'solid over solid'), also will the slope cause a problem even with angular stones?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you lay loose stones over the old tarmac they will migrate down the slope.

Think of them acting like marbles, it'll all end up in the roadway below!
