While travelling in Japan, I saw a number of pavements with timber block paving. They used chestnut, but I'm looking at a hardwood, more suited to the UK climate.
Anyway, question is, what sub base make up do you suggest I use? I was thinking a flexible paving ... it's for a patio, around 30m2. The blocks will be 200x200x75h.
Many thanks

Thanks haggistini. Yes apparently they used to have a lot of timber block roads in London in areas for hospitals etc, to keep the noise down with metal carriage wheels ... and still some evidence in places like Farringdon, in old recessed manhole covers.
Have got a pic that I'd be happy to upload, if somebody can tell me how! (it seems to want a URL ... ?)

have to upload it to the web ie flickr image shack photo bucket etc then copy the link to here, we cant host the pictures on the brew cabin servers.
im thinking depending on thickness that it could be laid as per normal cbp but id be more tempted to lay it on a concrete base, like parquet flooring. have to be a pretty good slab though or rough slab then a self leveling screed?
interesting to see the result though. if you cant find a host email it me and i'll host it and post it up.
