Hello all

I come and read this site every six months or so and keep asking myself if I'm up to a DIY job. I keep reaching the answer "no" or wonder if the cost would be too much.

Anyway, I didn't realise there was a forum until today so wondered if I could be cheeky and post some pictures and information on my drive and plug anyone with a spare few minutes to advise me on probable cost and feasibility.

Thanks

Andrew

P.S. I'm not in Britain or Ireland (sorry) but block paving isn't that popular here and I wouldn't know where to ask for advice.

Great - here's a start. I did wonder about taking a photo when it rains so you can see where the water sits and maybe chalking a level round the walls and will do so if asked but here are three photos from the first floor window for starters.

It's about 100M squared.

I'm in the Vienne (86). I hate this gravel as most of it ends up in the tyre treads or the house.

TIA

Andrew

what do your local quarry's have? you might be able to source some nice stone or reclaimed if the walls are anything to go by ..

The local area consists of rich well drained red soil and loads of the stone you see in the walls. The house is made of the same and the garden is surrounded by 30ft retaining walls that are built using soil. God knows how they stay up! I think the gravel is the same and it seems to be very similar to Breedon stone in the UK. I know of two quarries very local. I have some steps in the back garden made with the stone and it's very slippery when wet. I've never seen it used for drives or paving.

The front gates are going to be painted the same blue as the shutters you see. The roof tiles are red. I could live with blue or red for the drive to be honest.

If you go here :

http://www.leroymerlin.fr

and search on the phrase "Allée voiture" you'll see a good selection. I've just had a look round and it looks like the bottom of the range suitable for cars comes in at about 17€ per M².
