Hi guys
Just moved into our new home, we are looking at getting our driveway either block paved OR printed concrete.
Is the concrete route much more expensive? At a guess id say my front is 30x 20ft.
Came here because i few years back i got ripped by pikeys who tarmacced my drive so im a bit paranoid!
Is there any decent firms in Reading that i can contact or that some of you guys have used?
Any help and advice would be great.

Pics UK www.picsuk.com are a supplier of PIC products in the Reading area so they may be able to recommend a local PIC installer. If you go the PIC route, I would be very wary of sales spiel and would ask for references of previous customers and past jobs that you can go and see. You want to be confident in your installer as if PIC is not installed properly it is a nightmare.
I would probably go with block paving though...

Rich H used to be an active member in the forum and knew his stuff, his mobile number is 07962 225811.
But regardless of where you get the number from, read and digest the web site, regarding the construction method, that way when interviewing (and reviewing the written contact) of your contractors you be able to ascertain that, if they stick to their spec, will do a good job.
you should be looking at getting a minimum of three quotes, not necessarily go with the cheapest, they should be able to show previous work. IMHO the older the better (showing a drive finished last week is not that useful), although there are some indicators as to there performance at this stage.
and regarding the finish I would go with block rather PIC for a whole host of reasons!

with PIC the installer only has 1 opportunity to get it right
with block paving small errors can be rectified quite easily
however PIC done correctly can be a nice finish, just I have yet to see it in this country

Yes - I've seen lots of good PIC in the US and South Africa... here good PIC is a rarity.

Have you considered Ronadeck Resin Bound Surfacing?
See Ronadeck Resin Bound Surfacing System
We can get a contractor to visit and quote if you're interested. It looks great, and it satisfies the SuDS requirements.
