Need a bit of help want to lay a large patio area at my house have put down scalping base and compacted etc...now want to lay alicante marble tiles 400 by 400 - 20mm thick, want tiles to be pushed together tight as poss and wondering best way to lay them the tiles will be laid on a raised patio area tiles will be butted up against house then sloping away slightly towards a raised retaining wall the tiels will then have a 5mm overhang over the top of the wall for run off.

I am thinking I need to do a sand and cement mix to fix the tiles directly onto the scalping but not sure also not sure about the joints, do I use same mix to grout small gaps etc...any help most appreciated.

marble tiles are not really slabs are they?
i would of thought that a concrete base laid to the falls then the tiles stuck to that would be the way forward
5 mm overhang is not enough, should be 45mm but 30mm is minimum

Best to go down the tiling route and lay them on a cement and water mix over a smooth concrete base. Use an 8mm notched tilers trowel and 5mm tiling spacers. Slurry point it with exterior grout. You could add some sbr to the adhesive but not really needed.
Can't see it from my house
