Going crazy with too much choice. I am trying to decide on which companies blcok paving to use, there is too much choice and the colours in the books are not representative. I have tried to invite paving experts to come and give me a quote but the only one who turned up had one eye and the others never bothered. My lovely loyal builder has offered to do it but my concern is how long he is going to take because he isn't experienced enough to pick up speed and I would have to give him a pettern which I wouldn't know where to start. How do I get a professional to turn up? And is there a particular compnay's block paving that is good. How much does it cost to lay per sq m. I have already got the hardcore base.

Not sure thats going to be a problem. If he knows what he's doing, and has a good reputation, let him quote. Its not his fault he has one eye.
Can i suggest you take a walk up your road/estate (if you live on one) look for at all the decently laid drives that have been down a while, and ask the householders if they can recommend thier contractors.
its the only sure fire way in this case.
As for the ones who have not turned up, they obviously don't need the work, or have been put off by the fact its been started.

type your postcode in the search box on the link below and you will be given a list of 10 of the nearest paving contractor to where you live who are Marshall's approved installers
Marshalls Approved Installers
all manufacturers paving blocks are good quality otherwise they would not of been in business the length of time that they have been and offer a 10 year guarantee on their products.
you need to decide through process of elimination as you look through the brochure's what colour you would like your driveway to be and not clash with the colour of the house
once you have chosen the colour and style of paving blocks go to your nearest builders merchants and get some samples to take home and place next to the house to make sure this is the right choice of block and colour for your house
its that simple...honest

thats all well and good until you want another manufacturers paving.
Marshalls installers will often not install another product for fear of being "struck off"

if other block manufacturers had a list of installers in Staffordshire then i would of posted a link to it dan
you can't be struck off for installing what the customer requires if its your own self generated lead, you would be struck off the list if you was switching a Marshall's lead to another manufacturers product and rightfully so

Thats whats wrong with the system
Why can't you install another make, just because the customer has got you from a marshalls list?

I could only advise you to take that up with someone from Marshall's as I can't give you an answer ???

You have to pay to be on the marshalls list, there is no exclusive agreement with them. I was on the first marshalls scam about 10 years ago full of empty promises from marshals waste off £450 MSH

at the risk of getting slated I would say marshalls/stonemarket stuff is top notch quality wise
however i will not be beholden to any group or company.
I reckon if marshalls supply the lead then it is fair does that the contractor uses their gear
same as coke giving corner shops fridges===> but only for coke products
however there are a lot of folk out there who just want cheap, cheap, cheap, and as we cant scrimp on the subbase sometimes a cheaper flag or block is the only way
