Hi there...I'm new to this so please bear with me but I can't find an answer to my question anywhere else.
I had a Marshalls Driveline 50 blockpaved drive installed last Sept. 2/3 of the drive was laid over the hardcore that was originally under a tarmac drive and this is still nice and level. 10 months on and the 1/3 that is the extended part of the drive, newly dug down and constructed over what was previously a lawn, has already begun to show tire ruts. Is this normal? Please help. Many thanks

No it's the fault of your contractor there should be zero sign of settlement. I suspect your sub base hasn't been done right you should call him back to fix it. Don't lose your temper if he comes back he's more likely to sort it if you're nice.

Totally with Pab - go in really charming - I'm sure he'll want to rectify.

Thank you very much for your replies. I have a Marshalls guarantee so have written to him and requested that he comes back and rectifies. Will he need to dig it up again and re-do the sub-base? If he just offers to put some more sand under the wheel dips should I insist that he looks at the whole sub-base of that section? Many thanks

how deep did he go, what was the sub-soil like, what depth was the sub-base and bedding layer? No it's not accepable to just add more sand.

The ground is clay and according to his quote he has dug down 25cm. Used 15cm MOT Type 1 and 5cm course sand bed which has all been compacted followed by the blocks. No terram membrane was used. Does this shed any light? for 6 months the drive was used by a Beetle and then the last 4 months a Freelander. Are the cars too heavy? my understanding is that these drives should be up to the weight of any domestic car. Any advice would be appreciated before I see the contractor.
