I am laying a brick paver patio on a slope. Is it acceptable for my sand to vary in depth over my sub base? My sub base is a clay soil, which has been mixed with soil cement and compacted. My sand would be 5 inches to 1 foot in depth. I am sorry I am not good with metric measurements.

Best practice is to Vary the sub base not the sand....

Hi bo. Was the soil stabilisation done professionally?
Sounds like if it was'nt then your patio will fail. You cant really lay a patio on a slope, you want a slight fall at most. The sand at that depth, is a complete no, no. You only want the bedding layer to be 40 ml. You will probably have to dig out and place a sub base. :(

the OP is in florida so i guess things may be different there ,but 1 foot of sand seems extreme and likely to fail

You have re assured my thoughts, I will be adding more base and topping with a consistent depth of sand.
Thank you for your replies.
