One of my sites that i maintain features a 250m2 block paved drive, that hasnt been cleaned for years. Last autumn i sprayed of the driveway to kill of the weed growth and moss. Now with that and the frost it has killed it off completly.
I have cleaned block paving before but not on this quantity, and have looked around to get quotes roughly 2.50-3.00 per m2 which includes re sanding. I do own a petrol jet wash but its only roughly 150 bar and from past experience its not that good at lifting a lot of grime. I am confident in doing it myself but was put off at the cost of new equipment.
I have decided to purchase a rotary surface cleaner ive seen for aprox £300 online and to hire in a pressure washer, with my toolhire discount. Its alot of initial outlay for the cleaner but if im only talkin of £50 for the jet wash hire for a weekend in the future the surface cleaner is mine and will pay for itself from the price of two hires.

The question i have is the surface cleaner i have seen has a operating maximium pressure of 220 bar but the jet wash i can hire is 230 bar, can the jet wash pressure be adjusted or will 10 bar extra not explode the surface cleaner?

Also is there any other surface cleaners that are around the 300 mark that are any better.

Cheers

Liam

It's only a days work for a decent pressure washer and a waste of money buying gear for it 60 quid will hire a 3000psi yoke with mounted on a towable bowser. Even if you allowed 2 days cleaning and a few hrs to re sand £2.50 a m/2 is a tidy profit

Liam,
For the prices that you have been quoted, they are pretty reasonable.
Flat surface cleaners are fine but most need 3000psi and 15lts per min as a minimum. What make of FSC are you looking at?

Let me know if you want to sub this out as I have a data-base which covers most of the UK, so could put you in touch with a couple of people.

Thanks for the comments guys.

The pressure washer i intend on using is 3300 psi 230 bar, and the surface cleaner is rated at 220 bar. Ive spoken to the supplier and they are able to change the nozzles on the surface cleaner to accomodate the extra pressure. The surface cleaner brand is kiam.

cheers
