Hi,
Sorry for the noob post.
I have recently replaced some of my front drive with type 1 crushed concrete (previously a muddy hill). I have plans to change this to block paving at some point in the future.
I was advised to use Type 1, but not advised of the change in the governments stance towards it. The planning permission website suggests that this is impermeable, and therefore I am assuming requires planning permission. However, everybody on here still advises to use it from what I can see.

Can I leave my drive as Type 1 (with no paving / tarmic on top for 6 months), or am I likely to have the council complaining?

You should be fine, how can Type 1 be impermeable?

"Impermeable hardcore or Type 1" ...

Depending on the source rock, properly compacted DTp1 can become practically impermeable. This is not the same as completely impermeable which is why we don't use it to build swimming pools, but the percolation rate is so low that it is regarded as 'impermeable' for design purposes. Somewhere on my office pooter, I have a photie of ponding on a DTp1 sub-base.

Regarding your sub-base on this project, if it is draining to the edges, then it is legislation compliant, and the same is true if it's draining to a swale or soakaway. If it's draining to gullies or onto the highway, it's non-compliant and will require PP.

However, the chances of your council 'complaining' are somewhere between absolutely minimal and impossible!
