We have paved revetments up to 60°. You'd never get a car up there (it was bloody hard work getting blocks up there!) but it can be done!

surely at that pitch it becomes a retaining wall gaffer?
i mean how can you screed sand at 60 degrees?
LLL ???

Screeding was done a bit at a time using moist sand (12% I seem to recall being the spec). As these were simply revetments, the normal micrometre accuracy for which we block-layers are renowned could be overlooked, so as long as there was *some* sand beneath the pavers, and they were reasonably level, that was deemed acceptable.

Swinging the plate from a rope while two of us held on for dear life at the top of the bank was more of a challenge! :p

We did a couple of motorway bridge undercrofts too, but I think they were a measly 45° or summat like that.

Dear Sir, I want to use paviours on a 1:6 slope. Would you use a normal granular sub-base, a normal granular sub-base with anchor blocks every 6m or so (is an anchor block just a trench of concrete) or would you use a concrete slab with thickened toe. ???
