i'm about block pave an existing driveway which has been covered with 20mm stone. The drive has a fall of 300mm over 4.7m towards the house. With such a fall towards the house should a channel drain be used

depends how big the driveway is, how big an area will the linear channel be draining?

It might be worthwhile to get a back inlet gully at the base of the rwp, the downpipe feeds into the top of the gully and the sump from the linear drain goes into the back inlet.

you need to be careful that you don't overload an exisiting soakaway by draining more water into it than its designed for.

Personally i would dig a new one to be sure

the house is built on a hill and is a semi. This drive and the drive next door has a concrete retaining wall seperating them and is about 700mm at the highest point.

Its a concrete drive which has to be broken out in order to keep the correct level but it looks like the retaining wall and the concrete drive were poured in one hit.

Roof area is approx 25m sq
