hello all
can anyone give me some advice on getting my subbase totally level.
i have raked the sub base out and run a heavey whacker over it 6 ish times but i still keep getting slight dips in the finish.
will this affect the finished project or not.i am planning on putting down 40mm of sand over the top will this iron out the problem or will it just show through a couple of years down the line after being driven on.the drive is 100m2 and pretty flat. help and tips would be very much appreciated as this is my first project with block paving
:) ps the dips are around 10mm deep and i have run out of type1,

Even i can answer your question buy some more Type 1 and fill the obvious dips, also if you have a large piece of wood or if you are going to use the electrical trunking U shaped galvanised stuff ( Not conduit ) as i itend to use to get my screen level then you will see where the dips are that need filling.

Plus or minus ten mil is ok no need to worry.

like sean said its ok, you'll make that up when you screed your sand, or just regrade your subbase with machine or rake, take any high spots off and fill the low spots.

it will be fine just make sure you dont have those same deviations on the sand levels

cheers gents,
i am probably being a bit fussy but i was quoted 10,000 pound to do my drive by anglian and i am determind to do just as good a job ,
materials have only cost me 1600
because i work in a comercial vehicle garage and have got a shed load of contacts
the type 1 only cost 170 for 16.5 ton instead of 429 from merchants as per quote

£10K from Anglican? That's about right for a £4500 job from us more realistic boys!

You're doing well with your materials :)
