right i have finally laid all my blocks and done all my cutting in, now im assuming my next steps are;

1. compact over the whole area (how many passes are needed and also do i need a rubber plate for my compactor to stop damage to the surface of the blocks?)

2. brush in sand, and re-compact (again how many passes are needed and how much sand is required per square metre?)

i have took pics of every step i will try and post them this week!

the latest thinking is indeed to wack it before you apply the KDS,however most men on this forum do it the old way and insert the KDS before wacking (me included)
regarding wacking,i like to wack as i would mow a lawn back and forth say parallel to the house,then back and forth perpendicular to the house,then diagonally back and forth
hope this makes sense
LLL

ps its a neoprene mat and you only need this if you have laid clay pavers

personally i kiln dried the edges all the way around ,i then whack the paving around the edges first then up and down (lawn mower style) i then put kiln all over and whack in the other direction to the first then diagonal if i think its needed ( if its bouncing then stop at 2 passes)
sweep off clean and jobs a goodun
