Hello again. Am I right in thinking that I should not whack down my sub base if it is socking wet, due to rain over night. The ground and sub base where dry when it was laid. As a guide how long should I leave it to dry out at 150mm deep. Have tested on a very small area, only for it to pump water to the surface and leaving the sub base soft. Thanks Jim.

Leave it till it dries up which could be a day or a week. You'll be able to guess when it's good to go. If you ever do this again never leave your base uncompacted overnight even if you get a plate over it once or twice the rain will not affect it too much and you can carry on with the job.

Thanks pablo. Would it pay me to run the plate over it now a couple of times,as more rain on the way. Then finish off when the weather is better. Or will this put my levels out due to the amount of water in the base. Jim

We would just leave it well alone until the weather improves.
Stone that is like pea soup one day will be hard as hell the week after, we've seen it ourselves with our 6F2 Limestone.

Cheers Dave, point taken. The small area that I have run the plate over, that turned to pee soup as you put it,would this have compacted down more due to the amount of water, meaning I need to top it up. Hence leave the rest alone.
