I had chosen to use Marshalls drive line 50 for my drive. One contractor I was getting a quote from says that he would not use them as they break too easily, saying he likes Plaspave. I find this a bit confusing. Are there known differences between the two or is it a Ford/Vauxhall thing with lots of strong opinions?

I've laid countless drives in the past using Driveline 50's with no problems - although I would now use a 60mm block as that is what has replaced the 50.

i dont like using less than 60's on any drive, they just feel a lot better
50's are only really ok for very light vehicular usage and paths and patios
best thing is to go to a builders merchant and see what colours/styles you like

Plaspave are a cheaper brand - he's penny-pinching. And would that be Plaspave 50s, by any chance?

If Driveline 50s are breaking on him, then he should change his working practices or get hold of his local Marshalls' Rep as they'd be most concerned to hear that their blocks are failing, allegedly.
