I am preparing a sub base for laying block paving. I have removed 20 3*2 old paving slabs. It has been suggested to me that I lay them down on top of the clay before tipping on the granular sub-base. Is this a good idea or not? The only reason I would want to do it is to save a few trips to the tip using a trailer. But I do not want to take the risk of spoiling the job just for that. Thanks.

Point taken. Thanks for that. It looks like a few trips to the recycle tip is in order.

Freecycle will work, but you have to be immune to nutters.

i stopped moderating on freecycle, life is to short for the loons and greedy so and so's that try to abuse it
i would say about 30 % of freecyclers are genuine, the rest are after a free lunch
also try your local allotments, on our allotments people are always looking for old council flags etc to use as pathways
