Will sodium chlorate kill moss in paver joints and will it stain the blocks?

I agree. It does kill moss (at the right concentration) and it wont stain block paving.
But, what you will find is that it turns the moss from green to brown and remains there!!! Stiff brushing doesnt always remove the moss as its roots still hold it in place.

Follow the instructions on your pack - not all the stuff sold as sodium chlorate is pure sodium chlorate, so you have to read the packaging.
