Here is my drive finally finished.

This is how it was.

Here is some bits in between.

I did not realise how much longer the random streacher bond would take even with the large size pavers compared with normal 200x100mm pavers layed in a herring bone pattern.

Does everone else find that or was it that I was just slow?

Due to the steep slope, there has been a bit of sand washed out when there has been a huge down pour.

If I use Marshalls Keybond and I want to seal it later when all the effervesence has come out of the blocks, will the keybond effect a sealer like Resiblock?

The Marshalls website does not give much info about keybond, other than what it does.

There's no problem in using Keybond (other stabilising compounds are available) and then, after a few months, making it permanent with a sealant such as Resiblock (other quality sealants are available).

The fact that course-laying took longer than herringbone is probably just lack of familiarity. Once you get the hang of it, laying a three size block format such as those Tumblies should be around 20% faster, and the cutting-in is usually a piece of cake.

That lad on the vib plate looks promising: I'd hang on to that one, if I were you!

Thanks for that Tony. I just did not want to mess up by stabilising the jointing sand to find I could not seal afterwards.

Alex, (the lad on the plate) is only four. I just hope when he gets to 14, he will be so willing to help and not want to stay in bed all day.

Mine was like that at 4. Even at 14 he was willing and able. Now, at 22, he's a bone idle, feckless wastrel that is allergic to work and believes the world owes him a living. You'd need an x-ray to find any work in him!

I left him to screed and lay the new blocks on my driveway last weekend. In 4 hours he laid 3 square metres. The following day, I asked him to do the cutting-in. 4 hours and 2 linear metres of haphazardly cut blocks later, he threw his toys out of the pram when I bawled him out, and has been in bed for a week recovering from the strain of it all.

You think I'm kidding? I wish to god I was. My dad would turn in his grave if he could see how his grandson and the bearer of the family name has turned out.

i dont get it with the kids today. the ones who do work i take my hat off to them they get stuck in. the ones who dont ( or wont ) are so fecking idle it makes me angry. it makes my blood boil when i get in from work and the boys are sitting there watching that stupid american can laughter channel. their faces dont even register a smile when they are supposed to laugh at something. and to make it worse they are sitting in my seat. my auld fella would of booted me straight out of the way. me, i go sit in the kitchen and read the small print on anything thats there, like tomato sauce, or bag of suger etc.
