Hello,
My project is a 45m2 patio, rectangular is shape. One side is a straight house foundation. I will begin laying blocks as soon as weather permits.
The design will be 90 or 45 degree herringbone. I am leaning toward the 90 degree because of the straight wall.
I much prefer the 45 degree design but hesitant for fear of skewing the whole thing with a poor layout.
Any suggestions for a layout or workflow? Should I be considering a chalklne, stringline or some other reference?
I could not find a discussion on the subject, so maybe it is not such a big deal to others.

Thanks in advance.

Use a stringline, as described on the main website.

45° herringbone is no more difficult to lay than 90°. It's the cutting-in that makes it difficult, but the finished effect makes it all worthwhile.

Tony,
Thanks for the fast reply.
OK, I will search for the stringline solution.
I was thinking that using a concrete saw would really ease the pain of cutting in. I would not attempt any cut in without a saw.
This is my first project so I hope to compensate my lack of experience with advice from experts. This site is the best.

OK,
The layout as presented in the main site looks very doable and 45 degree herringbone it is.
Thanks again.
