We are based in Kenya and are in the process of paving 800sm with concrete paving blocks. The specs ask for interlocking 80mm blocks. We have offered the Engineer quoad shaped blocks which he has rejected on the pretext that they are not the correct shape.
Is it true that some shapes offer mere interlocking than others?

In Britain and Ireland, we predominantly use rectangular blocks, but in continental Europe they use shaped or dentate blocks that, because of their shape, have a higher degree of horizontal interlock and are better able to withstand rotation that standard rectangular blocks.
There are hundreds of different shaped blocks, but the most common are the W-blocks and the S-blocks. See if you can work out which is which.....
