Hello, Complete newbie here, It's a great and informative site that has helped so much so far, but i have a question??

My mother in law has asked me to lay a block paved patio 8M Sq she has also asked for a step at the back door. The problem is that there is an air brick below the door step, the bottom of the air brick is 160mm BELOW the DPC (which seems a bit odd to me. ??? ) and the block paving is to come to the bottom of this air brick. How can i put a step of 50mm above the block paving level and still get air to the air brick???? Sorry if this is a stupid question, or all waffle, but we all have to start somewhere. :(

Thank's in advance. :D

you make a void in the step and have another airbrick at the front of the step.
alternatively leave the step 40 mm away for the door (sills stick out this much at least) to allow for airflow
