Hi,
After reading through this site, there seems to be a wealth of knowledge, so thought i'd ask what you thougt of my driveway.
Ideally i'd like to block pave it, and shall have a go myself, its a bit of a mess at the moment as my extension has just been built.
The main problem with the drive as can be seen is the slope, I realise I could build a retaining wall or similar, however I don't want to put anything that the neighbour could open his car door into and damage his car. Their driveway is quite narrow.
I'm not bothered about going right to the edge with the blocks, I could have a gravel border perhaps, but then the gravel might end up all over his drive, so i'm after advice as to the best solution.

You could crush that rubbish looking car up and use it as backfill. :laugh: Only joking is it a Noble or a decent kit car.

Tony - Don't suppose you know of a pic to give me an idea of what you have in mind?
I'd like to have at least two car widths preferably, don't mind loosing a bit at the side to cope with the slope.
Pablo - Its a proper kit, not quite finished yet tho, priorities changed, I moved house, and then had no garage or workshop, hence the extension.

If I'm thinking what Tony's thinking it would be one parking spot at the same height as your neighbour's drive, retaining wall, then another area at the height of the boundary on the other side.

build a retaining wall on edge of your land and pave it all dont compromise the size of your drive ,never mind neighbour hes got a double drive anyway

I dont mind having my drive sloping towards the neighbours.
But I doubt I could pave that sensibly as it stands.
A retaining wall between me and him isn't really fair I dont think, they've been really good during all the building work i've been doing, so don't want to annoy them now.
I wondered about a thin kerb stone there, or some edging stones? not really sure.

Retaining wall it has to be Eddy - I can't really see any other feasible way of doing it.
Surely it's not to your neighbours detriment? Have you broached the subject with him?

You would have to dig down for the footings, so i would set the dig back about 500ml from your neighbours edging, leaving those in place as a demarcation line, also not undermining them. Build the wall leaving about 300 to be filled with stone, or whatever to allow for the weep hole water to run off.that way you havent compromised your neighbours car opening width, you have your terrace wall and drainage. :;):

I could continue the existing retaining wall round, curving it to go up the slope and leaving the neighbour the width where its needed, could probably keep it to that height as well maybe?

Id speak to your neighbour as it could open a can of worms legally when you go to sell it on.
