Remove lawn, excavate and install firm base and supply and lay 34sqm of Marshalls Driveline 50 block paving with 34 linear metre soldier course
supply and install 4 recessed manhole covers

Quoted Price inc VAT = £3900

In Gloucestershire - thoughts please.

Do you mean an extra 34 meters of soldier course or is that in the drive?
If the manholes were £100 each then thats £102 per m squared which is imo dear (about £20 per m more than in essex).
However prices do seem to differ nationally and if they are decent then they may be worth it.

the extra 34 linear metres of soldier course is basically the charcoal coloured paver around the edge, 1 paver deep

Very slightly dear but not unreasonable for round here. I make it about 3750 inc vat but I charge £200 ea for recess covers because once you've taken the top course off the chamber, made good, done all the cuts, etc., etc., it's a fair bit of time + plus the tray itself @ £50 inc vat.

The only way to determine whether a price is cheap, reasonable or expensive is to get more quotes. Prices vary enormously from area to area and what might be a bargain in your town could be regarded as 'highway robbery' (for want of a better phrase) just a few miles away.

ALWAYS get at least three quotes.
