when laying clay pavers on a rigid sub base is it best to butter the edges with mortor and then point, or should i lay them and then point the gaps after.Could anyone tell us what the easiest and quickest way to go about this task.

Butter and joint. Normally, we'd butter and then joint when we had a few square metres laid and aligned, while the butter mortar was still plastic. What we'd NOT do is allow butter mortar to dry out or harden before jointing.

I haven't done this myself, but I can't think of a reason why it shouldn't be possible - polymeric jointing for rigid block paving. If it works for setts, it should work for rigid pavers.
