Hi
Can anyone tell me how much tarmac I would need to cover a driveway which is approximately 20 x 20 m. If you could tell me how many tons of a 20mm base layer I would need and how many tons of a 10 mil top layer.
I have tried to find out by searching the web but haven't been able to find the answer!
Thank you very much.

who knows???? how deep is the tarmac? what spec. is the tarmac i.e carpark, road,
its not a DIY job to spec it. leave it to a tarmac co and let them take the risk, if sub base is 15mm to deep you can soon use another 7 or 8 tons of macadam at £100ton +

Thank you for the replies.
I am quickly realising it's going to be a lot - don't worry not DIYing it, just want to check out prices to see if it's a viable project.
Any more input would be appreciated: it's a private house driveway and the overall depth will be 10cm. Does 30-40 tonnes of each of base and finish layer sound about right?
Thank you

You'll need 50t of AC20 Binder to lay at 60mm compacted and you'll then be needing around 31t of AC10 Surface to complete

Dave L thank you very much for your great replies. Yep, it's going to be a lot LL, but I think it's the best option in the long run - other options - block paving , gravel wouldn't be suitable. At least now I know what I'm looking at.
Thank you again.
