Hi, I'd like to know what you think about the visualiser we prepared for one of our clients. I think it can be a good selling help for anyone offering paving services. Here's the link:

Very good. Last one I bought was £20 but based on American products.

It's a nice implementation and will appeal to some contractors but I worry that these visualisers all offer a simplistic design that is unlikely (if not impossible) to replicate on site. I've been hearing all sorts of tales about how clients have complained the colours don't look the same, that the edge courses are different, that they weren't aware that the manholes would have such a dramatic effect...all of which leads to earache for the contractor.

As the visualisers become more photo-realistic, so they raise the expectations of the clients, and restrict the leeway that all contractors need when working with real jobs.

Having said all that, though, this is a good, simple and easy-to-use version. What sort of price is being asked, though? Are we talking 25, 250 or 2,500 quid?

Looks good - but I can see the pitfalls for a contractor, after giving the initial impression to the customer.

Well, first of all thank you all for the comments. As for the price, this would depend on the amount of work we'd have to do to make the visualiser work and look exactly as you like, so before quotation we'd need to know: how many patterns & products you want to have, will you provide us with the pictures or should we be generating/drawing them etc. If you have hundreds of products with lots of patterns and additions, it will be costly and timeconsuming. If you have just a few products, it shouldn't be very expensive
So the price is always based on individual needs. I can only mention that to produce such a visualiser we need about a week. As for clients complains, I agree it might be a problem with some of them, but I think they will probably find something to complain about anyway without the visualiser :( It should be handy for most clients. But I'm not entirely sure if this product can generate huge profits - theoretically, it should increase your sales, but the risk is on you. As for us, we made it for one client in Poland and he is very pleased with it but we have no feedback if he has increased the turnover thanks to the visualiser. It's a big producer doing a lot of commercial projects so it's difficult to say.:) :)

I can't see a business model working that requires you to create a version for individual customer needs. Very few clients will have the funds, wherewithall and requirement for this.

From what I've seen, though, it's very close to being a 'standard' product, with many of the common paving types represented (far more in fact than any of the packages I've seen).

It might have more value to you to sell the license to one of the big paving suppliers. Some have their own software already but not all.

Yes, I think you're right, Ganger, thank you for your advice! You all helped me because now I'm pretty sure this product is worth marketing. Most people I've asked are very positive about our visualiser, it's useful, but for individual customers it may be a little bit too pricy.
