I have just spoken to a lady at Hanson and she told me 15m3 of type 1 weighs approx 11t which makes 1m3=.733t.

to coin a phrase "absolute bollox" look here and you will see that the gaffer reckons its 1m3 = 2 tonnes
so my estimate of 1.7 t to a m was not far out
she is living in a dream world doug

Density depends on compaction and water content. Generally speaking, "in the ground" unquarried limestone has a density of 2.2-2.4T/m³, while sandstone is 1.8-2.2T/m³ and granite is 2.7-3.3T/m³. However, as loose aggregates, a figure of 2.0-2.2T/m³ is a good all-round average for most Type 1 aggregates.
