I've now ordered my blocks - bradstone original woburn in 2 sizes 134x134 and 200 x134 and want to lay them in what the Bradstone brochure describes as offset herringbone 90* using two sizes. My problem is as there are no straight lines in this pattern do I start from the straight line across the house or in the middle somewhere. Or do you think this is too complicated and should I stick to a stretcher pattern. Your advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.

I can't see how you can lay a herringbone pattern with those two sizes. Stretcher would work OK though.
Work parallel to the house wall.

In the Bradstone driveway collection brochure on page 54 it shows it is possible but as it is such a small diagram it is hard to see the overall pattern very well. How they do it is by grouping 2 square blocks and two oblong blocks together to make a big oblong but as they are offset there is no straight line more than about half a meter. Have just found a full page photo of this type in the same book on page 6 but I still would'nt really know where to start.

I can see what you mean. I looked at their pdf which you can expand up to see the pattern better.
I suggest you cut out some card rectangles to scale. The four flags make a rectangle 334x268 so 33½mm x 27mm would work OK. You could then set out a section on a 10th scale drawing of the drive.

Thanks Bob, sounds like a good idea to me. I've got some graph paper so i'll be cutting out little squares tonight.

or use adobe illustrator,autocad,or turbo cad
cutting little squares is a right pain
shame no one makes magnetic ones and a metal board so you could do scale patterns for drives and flags
