I am currently putting in a new drive as a DIY'er. On one side of my drive is the house wall, which will act as the retainer on that side. I intend placing a brindle stretcher against the house, followed by a charcoal soldier course. Do either of these need to be bedded on concrete and if so do they need to be pointed with mortar, as presumaby compaction should not be carried out over this 'fixed' area to infill with kiln dried sand.
Also, on the opposite side, I will have a bullnose kerb edging but inside this will again be a single stretcher and then a soldier course. Obviously the kerb will be set in concrete, but again, do the other two courses need to be.
Thanks in advance for any help.
