Just looking around to try and cost up my driveway project and I don't really have a clue where to shop for the materials.
A quick google search brought up this:

Just wondered if this was an average price for scalpings (sub-base material) and also weather anyone has used them before?
Note that the price reduces based on quantity and can be delivered loose by tipper when over 10T - I would need around 20T according to the spreadsheet "thingy" on this site.
Can anyone suggest where I should go - live in Someset approx 20miles south of Bath if it helps.

Looks expensive to me, I`ve just bought 12 tonne of MOT type 1 from Jewson`s @ £14 per tonne + VAT delivered

The biggest part of the cost of any aggregate is haulage. The further an aggregate has to be carried, the more expensive it becomes. Consequently, a local supplier of locally-quarried aggrgate will always be cheaper than an online "nationwide" supplier who will simply sub the order to that same local suplier, and add their own profit margin.
Look for a local quarry and ask them to give you a price.

lol, shouldn't bee too difficult as I live less than a mile from Torr Works (local quary) in Somerset

Off the top of my head, having just been ordering stone but the paperwork is in my other head.....
If you can get a 20 tonner on site then fine.
for a 16 tonner add about £25 a load and for a 10 tonner add £60 ish a load. Dependant on supplier and distance but round here (middle of nowhere) it works fairly well. This is for the big quarriers, Hansons/ Bardon etc.
Local quarrys tend not to have their own transport but I was quoted £4.75 a ton haulage from about 15 miles away.... which when your buying 6" rock at £4 a ton you can see how the transport defines the cost.
Just checked, 40mm scalpings are £4.60 a ton at the quarry gate in North Devon from a local quarry (+£4.75 for the trucky) or £14.98 ton delivered from a large national company.
PS where you are you are have you considered Chard chippings for your top coat?
