Hi folks,
It's me the pest again, and my mind's working overdrive ahead of looming weekend.
Getting back into my cobbles/cubes project this weekend and hopefully finish the laying part.
I bit the bullet and got a pointing gun (P C Cox pointing/grout gun - good reviews from screwfix) to use to point cobbles/cubes.
I know I have previously been advised by Tony and Cooky to use slurry mix but I've got bad visions of staining, yes they the seasoned proffessionals know more than me the DIY man but I've got 2 weeks of for xmas hols so should have time to do pointing with help of a gun.
As it stands no pointing has taken place so it will not be possible for pointing and bedding to join together to form one solid mass that's best recommended.
To compensate this I was thinking:
3/1 building sand/cement
extra plasticiser to make more fluid
Plus a splash of SBR to make it "bullet-proof" and get extra bond strength, or is there a recommended ratio?
I would wash out gun applicator after each load.
Do you think this mixture when applied by gun would be ok ie MAGIC OR TRAGIC?????? Would SBR make mix too sticky for use in a gun?
Tony advised dipping cobble/cube base's in SBR plus cement to make a paste, I laid onto a bedding layer of 6/3/1 lean mix concrete and they're solid -tried pulling them off but they aint budging!!!!!
Hence why I reckon SBR makes things bullet proof!!!!!!!!!
MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE REPLIED TO MY QUESTIONS AND HAT'S OFF TO TONY - SITE IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!
I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP/ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
