My partner and her mother have designed a sunken patio area that is to be laid using standard marshall block driveline paviors. Less of a problem if they wanted it sqare but no its curved with an outer radius of 3.75m and an inner one of 1.3m. The angle between the end of the patio form from the centre of the circles is 116 degrees giving me an 2.4 m wide arc to fill.

What is the best way of minimising the number of cuts i need to make, i note the site advice on a minimum curve of 2.1 m if one is to avoid gaps of more than 13mm.

The only real option is to use half-blocks. Cutting blocks in half is relatively easy and there's no wastage. Using all half-blocks for the first few courses gives an estimated joint width of only 10mm....



...whereas alternating half blocks with full blocks gives a much wider 15-17mm joint, and all full blocks is up at 20mm+.

I trust your partner and the mother are quite skilled at operating a block splitter. :)
