What is the name of the best bound for block paving. Is it best to lay block paving in a drive at angles or horizontally and vertically,

45 degree herring bone,its the strongest for drive ways. its more trickier, cuts wise.

45 and 90 degree herringbone are equally strong, but 45 degree is more appealling, visually. Both patterns provide a full interlock, so it is a matter of personal taste as to which you choose.
