I have just had my drive resurfaced with a 6mm wearing course of tarmac, however it has in my opinion been badly laid finished with a very uneven finsh. Is there a British Standard or similar regulation that states the amount of variation that is acceptable in the level of the surface?
Also within a week of it being laid, it has blown & crack (size of a dinner plate) in several areas. The Contractor has heated the areas & flattened then, but I am concerned that they will come back. Does anyone know what might had caused this?

Its a fairly easy material to hand lay,so you might have a problem with the sub-base (whats underneath the tarmac) or the contractor may not be proficient in hand laying tarmac.

would need a pic to give further advice.

I'm sure Tony Mc would know from memory but I'm certain the tolerance is 6mm under a 1m straight edge. As Bobbi says, a picture will help here.
