I want to build a patio which will be cut into a slight slope and would like to use clay block paviors as a low retaining wall and as the risers for my slab steps.
Is this a good idea, if so , any tips on best way to build would be appreciated!

Block pavers are designed to be used for paving, rather than walling. Although there's nowt to stop you using them for a low-level non-critical wall on your own property, I wouldn't recommend it for a number of reasons....
1 - they are the wrong type of brick
2 - they are more expensive than the right type of brick
3 - the spacer lugs on the sides will be on show
4 - unless they are bone dry, they cause the mortar to 'bleed', making a right sodding mess of your work
5 - they will always look like block pavers
...but, as I said, it's you that has to live with it, and if that's what you want, then there's nowt to stop you.
My advice would be to use as stiff a mortar as possible and to lay them on a decent concrete footing, as shown in the
brickwork section of the site.

I'm glad you find the site useful, Michelle.
You'll not regret building the walls in brick - trust me: I'm a flagger! :)
