Started turning down awkward work. I figure either I win it and it's a PITA or I quote high to factor it in and get a bad rep for being too pricey.

Hmm, not sure that's a bad thing though...

If anything could do with more work but can't complain the work i do get generally pays well generally only do 8-4 when work maybe a little later on pricework or if it can be finished in a day. Tues/weds have to collect kids from after school club and nursery Fridays the boy has started football (use ti be swimming lessons) my kids are young 2 and 4 with another on the way but our bills are fairly low so its all good.
Only tend to get the hard jobs that no one wants or can do

been stagnant for 6 months in that london, almost certain to ripple out , nobody can afford to buy anything with crippling stamp duty costs etc
the building game is cyclical and we have been up the up cycle for a good 5 years

Same story.. had it with working 70-90 hours per week and having no life and having to make calls whilst on site or driving between jobs etc. Want an easy life.

Putting and ad out for a team leader I've had it. I don't give a shit about the money. If the biz only makes me 10k per year I'll be happy as long as I'm not busting my ass. Just want to take it a bit easier. Got another admin business which pays me about 20k ish steady so screw it.

Wish me luck

Calling it a day. De registering for VAT, laying off my labourer and working less, a lot less. Never hunting for work again. Selling all non essential stuff and putting up the odd fence and running my other business.

Screw it, only one life. Labourer is cool. He's had it too. Said he'd stay with me until I'm comfortable enough to shut things down. Sound of him..

Thanks mate. Feeling better already. No more working in the driving rain. No more having to fill every damn day end to end to justify peoples wages. No more massive jobs with lots to go wrong. Just bang up 2-5 fences per month and focus on buying and selling bits and bobs.

Life is about happiness, not money. I'm through with chasing money. Even if I had ended up a rich man I'd have probably been broken on route.

Sad to hear Andres ,but it has obviously been stressing you out
a mate of mine was in a similar position and went to work for a national company
4 weeks holiday van and fuel supplied,37.5 hour week
he is far happier now

Cheers but it's not quite time to break out the violin just yet. I'm only winding down and going back to basics. Besides, I've got a smoking hot young girlfriend who prefers me poor and having time to pay her attention. As do I ;-)

Can't have everything...
